Want to make a difference in lives of infants, children, families, communities, and society?

Welcome to the nation’s most diverse and applied Human Development and Family Studies Department where we are undertaking cutting-edge research with direct application for practice and policy. Faculty and students in HDFS are engaged in research and practice across the human lifespan and across the world, such as South Africa, Malawi, Russia, China, Brazil and Mexico. The research our faculty and students are engaged in ranges from infant development and learning, stress in military families, children with autism, obesity, depression and racial socialization. Our faculty and student researchers also work collaboratively within our department’s two community-based Child Development Laboratory schools and the Couple and Family Therapy clinic. We invite you to explore our department!
