Bio

Dr. Yuya Kiuchi's research interests include African American studies and history, popular culture studies, and youth development. Dr. Kiuchi teaches various undergraduate and graduate classes online and offline. He is the author of Struggles for Equal Voice: The History of African American Media Democracy (SUNY Press, 2012), and a coauthor of Packaging Baseball: How Marketing Embellishes the Cultural Experience (McFarland, 2012) and The Music of Counterculture Cinema: A Critical Study of 1960s and 1970s Soundtracks (McFarland, 2015). He has translated over seven books from English to Japanese, including Barack Obama’s Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance. Dr. Kiuchi serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of Popular Culture.
