Odom, Temple Ph.D.

Dr. Temple Odom studied the experiences of mothers whose children were living in foster case. Dr. Odom has been interested in adoption, foster care and other complex family forms throughout her career. She has had the opportunity to work clinically with these families and to conduct research in this area. At this time, she serves on the Advisory Board for the Lynn Franklin Fund of the Donaldson Adoption Institute.

Currently, Dr. Odom's focus is on teaching upper level undergraduate students and on supervising CFT students in their clinical work. Her teaching emphasis is on building relationships with students and teaching them in dynamic and interactive ways. She teaches the undergraduate evaluation course to HDFS students and the graduate supervision course in the Couple and Family Therapy program. She also conducts clinical supervision for the CFT students. Dr. Odom loves establishing genuine relationships with students and mentoring them as they transition to careers or to graduate school and beyond. She was nominated for the Kappa Kappa Gamma Professor of the Year Award in 2009. She also had the distinct pleasure of serving as the faculty advisor for a student who was a recipient of the Schoenl Family Undergraduate Grant for Dire Needs Overseas in 2010.

When not teaching, Dr. Odom loves to read, drink coffee, see movies and spend time with her family.
