Bio

Julie Brower is an Academic Specialist who serves as Assistant Director of the Child Development Laboratories (CDL’s), overseeing operations at the Haslett campus. She joined the faculty of HSFS (formerly Family and Child Ecology) in 1996 as Head Teacher.  In the beginning of her tenure at the CDL’s she facilitated the Family/Infant Learning Program.  This program supported families with children ranging in age from 3 months to 3 years of age in age specific play groups. In this role she also mentored child development student teachers.  In 2005, when the Haslett campus opened, Ms. Brower stepped into the role of Head Teacher in a preschool classroom.  She served in the role of Head teacher for 6 years.  In 2011 she assumed the role of assistant director, remaining in Haslett to oversee operations.

Ms. Brower has presented locally, at the state level, and internationally in the areas of infant/toddler development, early childhood education, early childhood inclusion, and preschool administration.  During her time at the Child Development Laboratories she has also taught Curriculum of Early Childhood Programs.

The Haslett CDL campus is a fully inclusive site with several collaborating partners.   To help to facilitate these partnerships in different ways.  Mrs. Brower serves as the Early Childhood Specialist in support of the CDL’s collaboration with the Great Start Readiness Program through the State of Michigan.  She also interfaces with C.A.C.S Head Start in support of the children enrolled through Head Start who are incorporated in the preschool classrooms.  Finally, she works directly with Haslett Public Schools to affectively support children with special needs and their families.
