Bio

Laurie Linscott is a Senior Academic Specialist who serves as Director of the Child Development Laboratories.  She joined the faculty of HDFS (formerly Family and Child Ecology) in 1999 as a Head Teacher where she worked with the MSU/C.A.C.S. Head Start Collaboration.  In 2001, Laurie moved to Central School as Head Teacher.  In addition to teacher training, she took on the role of Advisor for the Family and Child Ecology Club for the next 5 years. 

A milestone in her career was her role in the development of the early childhood inclusion model, operating at the Child Development Laboratories, Haslett campus.  This collaboration with Haslett Public Schools and Head Start serves as a unique teacher training site and community resource. It celebrates its 10th year in 2014.

Ms. Linscott has presented at state, national and international settings in the areas of Family Engagement, Inclusion and Cultural Competence.  During her tenure she has taught Curriculum for Early Childhood Programs, Student Teaching in an ECE Setting and guest lectures for other courses. 

Ms. Linscott works with numerous groups at the local and state levels with a focus on community collaborations, advocacy and inclusion.  She currently serves as Chairperson for the Quality Initiatives in Early Care and Education workgroup, part of Ingham Great Start Collaborative.  She was invited to participate on the review and revisions of the MDE Early Standards of Quality, Preschool.  She sits on the Professional Development Stakeholder group for the Office of Great Start. Ms. Linscott serves on the Board of Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children.
